Gap Insurance If you are contemplating buying a new Matiz you should consider gap insurance. If you buy a new car and it is written off in an accident standard insurance cover will only give you the current market value of the car and therefore you will not be able to get a replacement car. Gap insurance ensures that the shortfall would be covered should a write off occur. If you pay over £6000 for a car then it is recommended that you buy gap insurance. Chafing causes a short circuit that can trip the fuse for the ECU. This is apparently a known problem, as Daewoo have given details to the AA for inclusion in the patrolman's bible about checking this fuse as a matter of course. I would recommend that anyone with a 30,000 mile plus Matiz get Daewoo to inspect the wiring near the starter motor just to make sure you don't end up stranded at the side of the road. Alloy wheels looking scruffy? Clark Peacock says: With reference to your comment about nasty wheels, mine too went scabby after about 18 months with the lacquer peeling off. I challenged Daewoo and it turns out there is a known problem with the wheels on the early cars. All four wheels were replaced under the warranty.
